haha found a way to upload to my blog and to even have the audio/video sync! yay!
Sorry it has been a little while since I updated! Was getting back into the swing of things after break and it has been farrr too gorgeous outside to stay in and blog :) Hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather and please let me know if you have questions!
Thanks for your video, i did catch that its the American Academy of Physician Assistants, not American Association... sorry to be picky... I just thought i would throw out that correction. I just recently bought the iPad for school (which starts for me in May) I got the new iPad and one awesome difference with the new iPad is that it has a voice recognition build right into the keyboard, so whatever i speak can get typed in... which is VERY nice when one is writing a lot! What note taking app are you using? I have been playing with 'notability' which is an app that a PA student recommended, its amazing! I also got an app called 'OCRtoolpro' which basically allows me to take a picture of text out of a book, or off of a page, and it makes it a digital text that I can paste into notes and edit. VERY COOL! I'm sure that would be helpful. I also wanted to mention, since you mentioned your flash cards, they have tons of flashcard apps that you can use on your iPad, that make it very easy to input and add pictures or anything you want, even sounds, and the answers. Just thought I would throw that out there for you too. Great post, thanks for your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading/watching DJ! I realized my mistake of saying association instead of academy after watching this video but I still posted after not wanting to redo the whole video and prayed nobody noticed lol oh well! I have the voice recognition app on my phone which I love! The app I use for noting have the voice recognition ability but I have not used it yet. I use a note taking app called PDF notes. Allows me to upload the PDF files to it and the. I can highlight and write directly on the PowerPoint slides which is great. I use notability when taking notes not off a powerpointand just use the lined paper which is nice. I have tried using virtual flashcardsonline but I have not found a program I like yet, I'll def have to try out more :-)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are enjoying the blog and congrats on starting a program in May. You will love it!
Yeah again sorry for being so picky about the AAPA thing, I figured it was just a slip-up, and much easier to post the video rather than do it over again! I will have to look at the PDF notes app. Just in case you didn't know, you can import power points and PDF's into notability and write, mark, highlight on them. I figure it would be nice to keep all of your notes in one place, rather than have to go between apps. Again i'm just throwing out suggestions, take whatever you can use! I found an app called Flashcards Deluxe which I really like. You can use excel or word and make a 2 column list, the question in one column and the answer in the next and upload it right onto your iPhone and iPad (really easy to add pictures too). They also have Quizlet.com and FlashcardExchange.com integration, so you can upload pre-made cards regarding all things medical. Either way, again find what works best for you. Here is the link for the app:http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/flashcards-deluxe/id307840670?mt=8
ReplyDeleteDo you have any suggestions for me starting starting my program in May, since you are about a semester ahead of me?
Thanks again!
DJ
Welcome back to school, and thanks for joining my blog. I always love new visitors!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog, very helpful! I was wondering what your typical study schedule is like. If you are in class from 8-4, how late do you study and do you feel that there is enough time to study after class?
ReplyDeleteHey, I had a quick question. Is it possible to print or send the powerpoints from the ipad app after you are done taking the notes? I like the idea of using the ipad, but I also like the idea of having a physical copy of my notes. Great blog post :)
ReplyDeleteHello! Your blog is great! I just wanted to write because I'll be starting the program you're in in January 2013. I'm starting all the necessary preparations for school (exciting!!) One question- do you know the exact name of the medical terminology book you were instructed to get? I'd like to get it and chip away at the terminology so I don't get overwhelmed!
ReplyDeletethanks so much!
